there is a hidden comfort that kills your potential

“Only to the extent that we expose ourselves over and over to annihilation can that which is indestructible be found in us.”
Pema Chodron When Things Fall Apart

I have a tattoo of "The Ouroborus" in the center of my chest, a mythical symbol representing the never-ending cycle of life and death. A snake that eats itself.

Inside it are the words "Everything is nothing without within" this tattoo serves as a reminder that as my body sheds cells that have died.

I to must shed beliefs, identities and thoughts that no longer serve me.

Too many people are scared to face death and annihilation in order to allow something to be reborn from the ashes.

We want all of the benefits of being reborn without realizing that something must first die.

Your new life will cost you your old one.

Your new self will have to make peace with putting your old self to rest.

You cannot rely on linear time to provide you with the comfort of a consistent sense of self.

If you want to grow you have to change what you "identify" with. Not as the beliefs, identities or thoughts that you hold

But with the awareness of them all.

As the puppet master.

Not the puppet and its strings.

The Safety of the Strings

Until you admit to yourself that you find safety in your strings, they will always trick you into thinking you need them to exist.

Many of us don't even choose the strings that hold us. We simply adopt them as social, familial or relational conditioning.

Some questions you can ask yourself that will help you identify strings

  • Who does this belong to? Is it mine? Family members? Social conditioning?
  • Who does it protect/benefit? (Many of the strings we allow to hold us exist for OTHERS' safety and comfort)
  • What part of myself resists letting go of this string

The False Promise of The Puppet Master

Becoming the puppet master of your life

Freeing yourself from strings

Stopping yourself from being a puppet

If it was so easy why don't more of us just take the leap?

Why are we so adamant about allowing ourselves to be controlled, to cling to beliefs that no longer serve us, to trap ourselves in cycles we know we could easily escape?

Deep down, we fear the responsibility of being in control of our own lives.

Of being accountable to nobody but ourselves.

Of not needing anyone's permission to act, to believe, to have faith in our lives.

Problems do not disappear once we become the puppet master but…

We no longer feel powerless.

The strings that held us would never allow for us to rebel against them.

To act "out of character" to lose ourselves and find something greater.

To simply give ourselves permission in each moment to be a drastically different person.

As the puppet master this is all not only possible… but inevitable.

Every problem is a path towards your inner power.

Every obstacle an opportunity to evolve.

The strings may keep you safe, they may give you something to cling to, an identity you can rely on but they will keep you trapped endlessly.

The more strings you cut

The more you will realize they weren't keeping you from falling

They were stopping you from flying.

Hey Friend In this week's letter, I want to share something personal with you a journey through resistance that might feel familiar to your own path. The Dreams We Hide From I often found myself wondering why I chose this life path, or at least, why I'm walking it right now. As a kid who wanted to be seen so badly, I hated myself for that very desire. I learned early that unhealed childhood wounds don't disappear; they just lurk beneath the surface, causing us to limp through life instead of...

Hey Friends! Have you ever felt like there's so much you want to do, so many ideas swimming in your head— and then you sit down at your computer and... nothing happens? Your brain suddenly goes blank. Or worse, it floods with questions : "Which project should I tackle first ?" "Is this even the right thing to focus on?" "What if I spend hours on this and it doesn't work?" Before you know it, 30 minutes have passed while you've been staring at your screen, paralyzed by a decision, scrolling...

Hello Friends, The person you are, or rather the person you believe yourself to be, only exists because of the evidence you have collected. They exist because of the programming, beliefs, thoughts, patterns, coping mechanisms, and cycles that have become the evidence you use to support the person you believe you are. "We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence, then, is not an act, but a habit." — Aristotle The process of healing, self-actualization, or evolution is about creating and...
