How to Become More Productive Than 99% of Overthinkers

Hey Friends!

Have you ever felt like there's so much you want to do, so many ideas swimming in your head— and then you sit down at your computer and... nothing happens?

Your brain suddenly goes blank. Or worse, it floods with questions :

"Which project should I tackle first ?"

"Is this even the right thing to focus on?"

"What if I spend hours on this and it doesn't work?"

Before you know it, 30 minutes have passed while you've been staring at your screen, paralyzed by a decision, scrolling through emails, or reorganizing your to-do list for the fifth time this week.

This isn't just procrastination.

This special hell is reserved for creators and entrepreneurs with too many options and too much riding on making the "right" choice.

Here's the truth most productivity gurus won't tell you :

Overthinking isn't a character flaw—it's a defense mechanism.

Your brain is trying to protect you from failure, judgment, and wasted effort.

Studies show the average adult makes about 35,000 decisions daily.

For entrepreneurs and creators, that number skyrockets.

When you reach essential work decisions, your brain is already exhausted.

Decision fatigue has set in, and your prefrontal cortex, responsible for complex decision-making, has essentially checked out.

That's why 41% of to-do list items never get completed.

That's why so many brilliant ideas die in the " planning phase."

That's why you have dozens of half-started projects and zero completed ones.

But what if I told you there's a way out?

And it's not more planning, productivity apps, or willpower.

It's the exact opposite of what you've been taught.

The Paralyzing Cost of " Right" Decisions

Here's the million-dollar insight that changed everything for me:

There is no " right" thing to work on.

Let that sink in.

The belief that there's one optimal choice—one perfect task that will maximize your time, talents, and opportunities is the very illusion keeping you stuck.

This perfectionism masquerading as productivity is particularly seductive for entrepreneurs and creators.

We're vision-driven people.

We see potential everywhere.

We're hyper-aware of opportunity costs.

Every minute spent on Project A is not spent on Projects B through Z.

So we freeze. We overthink. We plan. We research. We reorganize.

We do everything except the actual work.

This points to what I call the Action-First Framework. It flips traditional productivity advice on its head:

Instead of clarity leading to action, action creates clarity.

Instead of confidence leading to progress, progress builds confidence.

Instead of perfect planning leading to results, imperfect execution reveals the path forward.

The most successful entrepreneurs I've studied don't succeed because they make better decisions than everyone else.

They succeed because they make decisions quickly and learn from the results in real-time.

While overthinkers are still debating between option A and option B, action-takers have already tested both, learned valuable lessons, and moved on to options C through F.

This isn't just philosophical, it's neurological.

When you take action, your brain releases dopamine, which improves focus and creates positive reinforcement.

Momentum itself becomes addictive in the best possible way.

The Momentum Method: 5 Steps to Unstoppable Productivity

"The way to get started is to quit talking and begin doing ." - Walt Disney

Traditional productivity advice fails overthinkers because it assumes the problem is organization or time management.

However, for most creators and entrepreneurs, the real problem is psychological resistance.

You don't need another app or planning system.

You need a way to bypass your brain's protection mechanisms and create for war d motion.

Here's how :

Step 1 : The Decision-Offering Technique

When you can't decide what to work on, stop trying to decide.

Seriously.

Create a list of your top 5-7 current projects or tasks.

You can put them in a randomizer tool, draw them from a hat, or have someone else pick for you.

Then work on whatever is selected for at least 25 minutes without questioning it.

This works because it completely circumvents the decision fatigue cycle.

Your brain can't get caught in the trap of "but is this the MOST important thing?" because you've outsourced the decision entirely.

I used to spend hours debating which content to create first.

Now I spin a digital wheel with content categories, and whatever it lands on, I start immediately.

My output has tripled, and ironically, the quality has improved because I'm spending time creating instead of deliberating.

The beauty of this technique is that it shows you a powerful truth:

Almost any forward progress is better than perfect planning.

Once you start working, the next steps often become obvious in ways they never could through abstract thinking.

Step 2: The 10-Minute Momentum Builder

Motivation doesn't precede action— it follows it.

When facing resistance, don't wait to feel motivated.

Instead, commit to just 10 minutes of work on the task.

Set a timer.

Tell yourself you can stop after 10 minutes if you still don't want to continue.

This works because starting is always harder than continuing.

The 10-minute boundary makes the task manageable, removing a major commitment's psychological weight.

You'll discover that about 80% of the time, once the 10 minutes are up, you want to continue.

You'll have broken through the initial resistance and found your flow.

The momentum from these small wins creates compound interest on your productivity.

Step 3: The Imperfection Protocol

Perfectionism is procrastination wearing a tuxedo.

For this step, you need to deliberately create imperfect work early, often, and visibly.

This means:

  • Setting unreasonably short time frames for first drafts
  • Sharing work before you feel it's ready
  • Establishing " good enough" metrics in advance

When I started my business, I would spend weeks perfecting blog posts that nobody read.

Now I write first drafts in under an hour, publish weekly without fail, and iterate based on real feedback rather than my overthinking.

The Imperfection Protocol trains your brain to prioritize completion over perfection.

It exposes you to the reality that imperfect action almost always yields better results than perfect action.

The first version will always be flawed.

Accept this as a feature of the creative process, not a bug.

Your job is to get that first version out as quickly as possible so you can improve it based on reality, not speculation.

Step 4: The Evidence Collection System

Your brain forms beliefs based on evidence.

Right now, it has plenty of evidence that overthinking is your pattern.

You need to systematically collect new evidence that you're the kind of person who takes decisive action.

Create a "Done " journal where you record every instance of choosing action over analysis.

No matter how small the action, write it down.

Review this journal weekly.

This isn't just feel-good fluff— it's cognitive reprogramming.

By deliberately tracking action-taking evidence, you're building neural pathways that make decisive action your new default.

The evidence doesn't lie, and your brain can't argue with a growing record of action.

Step 5: The Identity Shift Exercise

The ultimate goal isn't just to be more productive; it's to become someone who doesn't identify as an overthinker at all.

Write out a detailed description of your " action-taker identity."

How does this version of you approach decisions?

What do they believe about imperfect action?

How do they talk to themselves when resistance appears?

Read this identity statement daily, and deliberately embody this identity in small ways throughout your day.

This works because behavior follows identity.

When you shift how you see yourself, actions that once felt difficult become natural expressions of who you are.

A powerful identity statement might include something like:

"I am someone who values momentum over certainty. I make swift decisions with the information available and adjust course as needed."

The difference between the top 1% of productive creators and the overthinking 99% isn't intelligence, talent, or even work ethic.

It's the ability to take consistent action in the face of uncertainty.

The Momentum Method isn't just about getting more done; it's about freeing yourself from the mental prisons of perfectionism and analysis paralysis.

Stop searching for the "right" thing to work on.

There is no right thing.

There is only one thing you choose to advance right now.

Your future success is waiting on the other side of decisive action.

Not a perfect action, just an action.

What will you choose to advance today?

Hello Friends,

The person you are, or rather the person you believe yourself to be, only exists because of the evidence you have collected.

They exist because of the programming, beliefs, thoughts, patterns, coping mechanisms, and cycles that have become the evidence you use to support the person you believe you are.

"We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence, then, is not an act, but a habit." — Aristotle

The process of healing, self-actualization, or evolution is about creating and collecting new evidence that supports the identity of the person you want to be.

Even as that evidence occurs, our subconscious mind negates it. Tells us that it is a fluke, hands us impostor syndrome on a silver platter, and has us return to our place, crushed under the weight of our ambition.

Most people wait until they have a new identity to collect evidence of it, but this is not the same dilemma as the chicken and the egg.

There will never be a new identity without the evidence of it first.

Collecting evidence is not something new you need to learn. You have been doing it unconsciously your whole life. That is why you are who you believe yourself to be.

The only thing you must change is taking the evidence collection OFF autopilot.

This is how we begin the process of reclaiming and reprogramming our subconscious.

It is a manual process at first, where imposter syndrome runs wild and your ego digs its heels in, telling you that you are faking it, until you make it.

You have always been faking it.

You feel like an impostor because you are an impostor, but the shift is…

You have always BEEN an impostor.

You just got so used to playing the role (and playing it well) that you forgot you've been faking it your whole life. You have the evidence to support the impostor.

Now it is time to collect new evidence… here is what that looks like.

Collecting Evidence Exercise

"Every action you take is a vote for the type of person you wish to become." — James Clear, author of Atomic Habits

I want you to take a piece of paper and on one side of the paper write

[Your Name] 2.0 (You can also use a nickname, for example, I went from Gregory to Grisha. Grisha was my evolution)

I want you to list 3-5 qualities of yourself you would like to have, things you would like to do, or the person you want to be.

Don't make this such a long list where you overwhelm yourself. Make it actionable and within your reach, not some vague, far-off goal.

Write them as if you already are or already do these things.

Here are some examples:

  • I meditate at least once a day
  • I go to the gym at least twice a week
  • I go for a 30-minute walk three times a week
  • I choose reading over social media once a day
  • I charge my phone in another room
  • I post at least one piece of content a week
  • I write first thing in the morning for 30 minutes
  • I am more present throughout the day.

You purposefully want to make these easy and obtainable.

Don't focus on the outcome right now, we don't care if we lose weight, gain followers, become enlightened, or achieve our hopes and wildest dreams.

All we care about right now is collecting evidence.

Flip the paper over.

On this side, I want you to write the date for a week

So, from May 6th until May 13th, followed by Evidence Collected

Leave this sheet on your desk, by your bed, anywhere it is constantly and consistently visible.

At the end of each day, I want you to start a ritual, 10-15 minutes sitting in front of this paper and reflecting on what evidence you collected that supports your new identity.

Why This Works and What To Avoid

Do not use this as another way to shame yourself for not stepping up.

You are running an experiment, and in an experiment, anything that goes wrong is data collected.

Data collected further informs research and is not against a desired outcome, but a redirection towards it.

Simply notice.

Notice the patterns, the energy of new vs. old evidence, and your subconscious programming fighting back.

Start looking at everything as evidence.

The things you used to be ashamed of that you believed made you unlovable, unworthy, and useless.

It is just evidence of a version of you that you are outgrowing, that no longer exists, and that never truly existed or was you.

The things that bring you pride, joy, a sense of accomplishment, that you look at your list and write down how you supported this new identity today…

Evidence of your new self.

The Bucket Of Self-Worth

Self-efficacy is your belief in your ability to execute actions to achieve specific goals or handle situations.

Your self-worth is directly connected to your self-efficacy, and every time you collect evidence that supports this new version of you…

You increase your self-efficacy, which increases your self-worth, which increases your conviction in this new version of yourself.

This is the journey of learning to trust yourself. Our self-trust goes up when we do what we need to do and avoid doing what we know harms us.

The more self-trust and conviction you have, the more you can tap into your inner knowing.

Tap into and exist from your intuition, a powerful frequency that empowers your desired reality and inevitably leads to its materialization.

This is the essence of alchemy.

Let me know what evidence you plan to collect this upcoming week. I respond to every email.

Best of luck to you on your journey, my friend.

Grisha

Hey Friend In this week's letter, I want to share something personal with you a journey through resistance that might feel familiar to your own path. The Dreams We Hide From I often found myself wondering why I chose this life path, or at least, why I'm walking it right now. As a kid who wanted to be seen so badly, I hated myself for that very desire. I learned early that unhealed childhood wounds don't disappear; they just lurk beneath the surface, causing us to limp through life instead of...

Hello Friend The quantum physicist John Wheeler once said that "no phenomenon is a real phenomenon until it is an observed phenomenon." The very act of observation fundamentally changes what we're observing. Scientists discovered this when studying subatomic particles—they behave differently when watched versus when unwatched. But this isn't just some abstract scientific principle. It's the hidden mechanism behind everything you're experiencing in your reality right now. Your consciousness is...
