Here is how I escaped the prison I built.

Hello friends,

Have you ever felt disconnected from the world around you, even when surrounded by people?

You crave genuine connection, yet something always seems to hold you back. It's a common struggle, especially for those who value authenticity and deep relationships.

What if the very thing you're doing to protect yourself is what's keeping you isolated?

Think of it this way: You're building walls to keep out potential harm, but those walls are also blocking the flow of love, joy, and connection.

"The walls you build, and the armor you wear to keep yourself 'safe' all require upkeep and maintenance."

These defenses require an enormous amount of energy to maintain. You're constantly on guard, scanning for threats, and suppressing your true self. What starts as a temporary measure becomes a way of life, and before you know it, you're living in a prison of your own making. We live from a wound, so we constantly tense and on high alert.

The truth is we get tired of the wounds that haunt us, so we spend our days in denial.

This newsletter will explore the subtle ways you may be trapping yourself, and how you can begin to dismantle those walls and reclaim your freedom.

You'll discover that the path to genuine connection and fulfillment lies not in building higher walls, but in tearing them down. It starts with understanding that, and so that is what you should expect to learn from this.

"Safe" Isn't Always Secure: The Illusion of Control

We often create a protective narrative to justify our disconnection. We tell ourselves that "no one understands us," that we're different, or that we're simply better off alone.

This narrative becomes a self-fulfilling prophecy, reinforcing our isolation and keeping us from participating in our wholeness.

"You want to connect with others, but you do not know what to connect with them about. You create a narrative as a protective mechanism that 'no one understands you.' This allows you to justify your disconnection and keeps you from participating in your wholeness."

But self-awareness alone isn't enough. It illuminates the problems and obstacles in our lives, but taking action requires acceptance, clarity, and courage.

Self-awareness only results in a horizontal or lateral expansion of consciousness, says Ego Development Theory Even if our awareness can deepen, alchemizing actual change requires synthesizing authentic action from awareness.

We are called to change. But we are also scared of losing the parts of ourselves that we are so comfortable with.

These parts of ourselves are inauthentic to who we really are, since they are simply defense mechanisms. We need to burn away false beliefs through destruction and unlock the parts of ourselves that we suppressed in the past. This is vertical development

The process of creation through destruction isn't about punishment; it's about liberation. It's about breaking down old structures to make way for new growth, dissolving the aspects of our shadow so that they may be fully integrated into our totality of self.

Remember, triggers are not random; they are showing you where you are either most wounded or primed for growth.

"Remember, triggers are not random; they are showing you where you are either most wounded or primed for growth. If we can see these triggers as signals that are trying to help us put our attention toward some part of our lives that needs healing, health, and progress, we can begin to see them as helpful instead of hurtful."

Breaking Free: A Blueprint for Reclaiming Your Life

The key to reclaiming your life is not about building higher walls, but about dismantling the ones you've already built. It's about embracing vulnerability, accepting discomfort, and stepping into your authentic power.

Here's a blueprint for breaking free:

  • Radical Honesty: Acknowledge your true feelings and needs. If you're feeling disconnected, admit it to yourself and to others.
  • Self-Acceptance: Own all aspects of yourself, even the ones you're ashamed of. As the highlight said, "I spent years feeling shame for who I was. It wasn't until I started owning ALL the aspects of who I was that I truly began to heal."
  • Embrace Discomfort: Recognize that discomfort signals growth. It is not trying to punish you! "It is just trying to show you where you are capable of more, deserving of better, able to change, or meant for greater than you have right now. In almost every case, it is simply informing you that there is more out there for you, and it is pushing you to go pursue it."
  • Find Your Purpose: Connect with something bigger than yourself. For most of us, "Our generation's biggest obstacle will be a lack of purpose. At a time when you can be anyone doing anything, we are given so many paths that many of us become paralyzed. It is a belief that there is anything BUT the right path that holds us back."
  • Practice Presence: Engage with the present moment instead of dwelling on the past or future. But so many people struggle to be present and actually experience their lives as they are. "The culprits are varied and can include everything from unrealistic expectations to trying too hard to feel good. (It is, after all, something you have to allow.)"
  • Rebuild: Create a life aligned with your values and desires. The path to freedom is not easy, and your new life is going to cost you your old one: "It's going to cost you your comfort zone and your sense of direction. It's going to cost you relationships and friends. It's going to cost you being liked and understood. It doesn't matter. The people who are meant for you are going to meet you on the other side. You're going to build a new comfort zone around the things that actually move you forward. Instead of being liked, you're going to be loved. Instead of being understood, you're going to be seen. All you're going to lose is what was built for a person you no longer are."

With, from and for love.

Hey Friend In this week's letter, I want to share something personal with you a journey through resistance that might feel familiar to your own path. The Dreams We Hide From I often found myself wondering why I chose this life path, or at least, why I'm walking it right now. As a kid who wanted to be seen so badly, I hated myself for that very desire. I learned early that unhealed childhood wounds don't disappear; they just lurk beneath the surface, causing us to limp through life instead of...

Hey Friends! Have you ever felt like there's so much you want to do, so many ideas swimming in your head— and then you sit down at your computer and... nothing happens? Your brain suddenly goes blank. Or worse, it floods with questions : "Which project should I tackle first ?" "Is this even the right thing to focus on?" "What if I spend hours on this and it doesn't work?" Before you know it, 30 minutes have passed while you've been staring at your screen, paralyzed by a decision, scrolling...

Hello Friends, The person you are, or rather the person you believe yourself to be, only exists because of the evidence you have collected. They exist because of the programming, beliefs, thoughts, patterns, coping mechanisms, and cycles that have become the evidence you use to support the person you believe you are. "We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence, then, is not an act, but a habit." — Aristotle The process of healing, self-actualization, or evolution is about creating and...
